Deserts

Today I am going to talk about some desserts that I think that are delizioso or delicious. Such as banana pudding, and pound cake.

First I want to talk about banana pudding. To start get yellow instant banana jello pudding mix and add that to three cups of milk stir well. Find a big bowl and line it with wafers, then bananas then the cream over and over.

Once done cover with saran wrap or aluminum foil and let sit in refrigerator for thirty minutes to an hour.

Next I am going to tell you about my next favorite which is pound cake. Get out three cups of sugar, two sticks of butter, five eggs, three cups of all purpose flour, and one tsp of baking powder, vanilla flavoring, lemon flavoring and one cup of milk, and ½ a cup of crisco shortened.

Take the two sticks of butter and softened it and add it with three cups of sugar and the ½ cup of crisco shortened once add together mix until thick. Next add the eggs one at a time then add one cup of flour and then ½ cup of milk and one cup of flour and mix well.

Then add the vanilla, lemon, and baking powder once mixed well clean the beaters with a spatula and stir to pound cake mix. Finally get a pound cake pan spread crisco and flour on the pan. Once spread pour in mix and put in oven but the oven has to be cold and then turn on the oven to 325 degrees.

For one hour and thirty minutes but don’t check or even open to look until the time is up and let sit for fifteen minutes. I promise you if you don’t wait that time it will not rise right so just leave it be and it will be fine.

Southern Home Cooking: Fried Chicken Diner

Before you start you know what to do wash them hands don't want anyone to get sick. So thaw the chicken now there are several ways to fry chicken, you can do eggs or milk but my favorite is in buttermilk.

When you put the buttermilk and flour in a separate bowls flip the chicken in buttermilk first then in the flour and make sure you flip the chicken on both sides. Now while you are doing this you already need to have the grease heating up.

Only do a few chicken strips so it doesn't overflow. Now cook until golden brown. Once done cut grease off and take out your chicken and set on plate with paper towel to get rid of excess grease and put on plate to eat.

Next to make mashed potatoes you get one potato per person cut it in half and the halves in half. Get a pot out and put the potatoes in with water, salt, and a dab of butter put enough water to cover and then a little more.

Cook for twenty minutes once done drain water and put the potatoes in a bowl with two tbsp of butter and ¼ cups of milk. Then grab your potato masher and mash up the potatoes once done you can add salt and pepper.

Now everybody wants to have gravy with their mashed potatoes. To make gravy put four tbsp of  grease in a pan and stir in salt, pepper, and two tbsp of flour. With a continuous stir let brown and add three cups of milk if too thick then add a little more milk until at your preference.

Now to make your second side of mac and cheese. Get a one pound box of macaroni noodles put the noodles in a pot bring to a boil and let the noodles boil for ten minutes then drain.

Preheat oven to three hundred and fifty degrees. Once the noodles are drained you want to get a large casserole dish pour the noodles into the dish and cut two sticks of butter and add to macaroni. While still hot stir to make the butter melt.

Add one and a half cans of evaporated milk, one pound bag of mild cheddar cheese cubes, and a two pound bag of shredded mild cheddar cheese. Mix all together well and bake in oven for twenty minutes.

For the last side dish you are going to need a ½ cup of lard crisco and mix it in with two cups of flour and ¾ - one cup of milk. Stir then lay out wax paper with flour on top of the counter and take a rolling pin and roll the dough until it’s one inch thick.

For the final touch use a biscuit cutter and cut as many as you can to fit on a baking sheet. Put the biscuits in the oven and let cook for fifteen minutes or until golden brown. That’s it after all that you should dig in because it’s going to be good.

Well, I would like to send a big shout out to my grandmother she is the one who is giving me all these recipes for cooking. My grandmother told me to do two things that if I wanted to cook the recipes that I should "wash those hands". The other thing she told me was if I wanted something to eat out off her recipes just to "come on down to my house and I'll fix it for ya".

Pink Slime

"The BLOG." : Pink Slime. Web. 25 Apr. 2012. <http://cube47.blogspot.com/2012/03/pink-slime.html>.

Today I am going to talk about pink slime. Pink slime is a substance that is used as an alternative to beef or meat used in school lunches and in some areas on yourselves in your grocery stores. Food Safety News says “Since the backlash ignited last month, concerned parents and grossed-out burger lovers have spoken out in droves, demanding it be labeled or altogether removed from store shelves and school lunches”.

This pink slime has been in McDonald, and School lunches ever since 2004 but has been known about ever since 2001. Yet The Washington Post did a documentary on it in 2008 four years after it was already on market. See but the thing is that The Washington Post says “People, it seems, who for years gobbled down “lean finely textured beef” sat upright when they saw pink slime.”

Many restaurants and grocery stores such as Wendy’s, Food Lion, kroger, and Safeway  have abandoned the product. There has been many different schools that have had the opportunity to switch back to all beef instead of pink slime. Some beef companies hit an ten year low for the month of March and just as grilling season came around the corner.

Some Of My Favorite Restaurants

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4b/Restaurant.jpg/300px-Restaurant.jpg

I want to tell you about the foods and restaurants of my hometowns of Grover and Kings Mountain. The reason why I said my many hometowns because I was born in Shelby, raised in Kings Mountain, Grover so I got a taste of everything.

My most favorite restaurant is in Grover actually but the food there is great and southern for sure all their food is southern from the deep fried chicken to fish sandwiches. I remember one time I went and I ordered the fried chicken strips with fries and honey mustard and boy was that chicken was good so if you like deep fried chicken the go here to Rondia’s Kitchen.

Next Carolina Crossing near the service station also in Grover. In the mornings you can get fresh coffee down home grits, bacon, liver mush, eggs, sausage and much, much more. When I went I got home made biscuits with gravy and it was really good the soft bread and smooth gravy. In the afternoons they have a daily special.

Highway eleven off of highway eleven in South Carolina you can go and get you a cheeseburger and it will be about a pound of hamburger meat freshly cooked. They have chicken sandwiches, and the salads are served in dishpans now don't ask me what it is all I know is that it comes in it. At all theses restaurants there are nice servers and good home cooking.

Mountain view in the middle of Kings Mountain has some good food. I remember a time when I took the whole family up there to go eat. They have the most variety of food that I have seen so far besides Ryan's but they serve spaghetti, chicken, burgers, just about anything even pizza.

Well I love home made food and southern food most that's why I chose those restaurants.

German cake

German cake

Today I wanted to talk about your most favorites desserts of anything chocolate, or caramel what ever. I chose this subject because I love food and I think its a good topic and today your going to learn how to make German chocolate cake. I think my most favorite dessert that I’ve ever ate was a german chocolate cake that had butterfinger topping mum-mum-mum good stuff boy. This is how you prepare a german chocolate cake you will need: a four oz packet of baker's german sweet chocolate, ½ cup of water, four eggs the eggs have to be  separated white from yellow, four cups of flour, one tbsp of bacon soda, ¼ tsp salt one cup of butter or two sticks soffen, one tsp vanilla, one cup of buttermilk, and I know this is a lot to take in but if you do this then you will love me and probably want more recipes from me.

First thing you need to do is wash them hand cause you know you don’t want anyone to get sick, so you are going to use the four white part of the eggs put them in the mixer on full blast and beat them till it is stiff and it is going to look like whipped cream and set them aside. Then with that half cup of water mix it with the packet of baker's sweet chocolate and put it in the microwave for one minute and thirty seconds and set aside. Then the two cups of flower and one tsp of baking soda and ¼ of salt in the mixer to set aside.

Then you get the one tsp of vanilla with your chocolate and water and your soften butter in the mixer with two cups of sugar on low. When your done mixing it you need to add the other part of the eggs or also called yokes, a cup of flower and ½ a cup of butter milk twice, and mix each time it is added. Finally get a 9 by 11 inch square pan and grease the bottom and sides and put flower on top of grease and poor all contents in to pan and but it in the your convectional oven for 30 - 40 minutes. You should be good if you want the topping then you can let me know but other than that it makes 16 servings.
