Before you start you know what to do wash them hands don't want anyone to get sick. So thaw the chicken now there are several ways to fry chicken, you can do eggs or milk but my favorite is in buttermilk.
When you put the buttermilk and flour in a separate bowls flip the chicken in buttermilk first then in the flour and make sure you flip the chicken on both sides. Now while you are doing this you already need to have the grease heating up.
Only do a few chicken strips so it doesn't overflow. Now cook until golden brown. Once done cut grease off and take out your chicken and set on plate with paper towel to get rid of excess grease and put on plate to eat.
Next to make mashed potatoes you get one potato per person cut it in half and the halves in half. Get a pot out and put the potatoes in with water, salt, and a dab of butter put enough water to cover and then a little more.
Cook for twenty minutes once done drain water and put the potatoes in a bowl with two tbsp of butter and ¼ cups of milk. Then grab your potato masher and mash up the potatoes once done you can add salt and pepper.
Now everybody wants to have gravy with their mashed potatoes. To make gravy put four tbsp of grease in a pan and stir in salt, pepper, and two tbsp of flour. With a continuous stir let brown and add three cups of milk if too thick then add a little more milk until at your preference.
Now to make your second side of mac and cheese. Get a one pound box of macaroni noodles put the noodles in a pot bring to a boil and let the noodles boil for ten minutes then drain.
Preheat oven to three hundred and fifty degrees. Once the noodles are drained you want to get a large casserole dish pour the noodles into the dish and cut two sticks of butter and add to macaroni. While still hot stir to make the butter melt.
Add one and a half cans of evaporated milk, one pound bag of mild cheddar cheese cubes, and a two pound bag of shredded mild cheddar cheese. Mix all together well and bake in oven for twenty minutes.
For the last side dish you are going to need a ½ cup of lard crisco and mix it in with two cups of flour and ¾ - one cup of milk. Stir then lay out wax paper with flour on top of the counter and take a rolling pin and roll the dough until it’s one inch thick.
For the final touch use a biscuit cutter and cut as many as you can to fit on a baking sheet. Put the biscuits in the oven and let cook for fifteen minutes or until golden brown. That’s it after all that you should dig in because it’s going to be good.
Well, I would like to send a big shout out to my grandmother she is the one who is giving me all these recipes for cooking. My grandmother told me to do two things that if I wanted to cook the recipes that I should "wash those hands". The other thing she told me was if I wanted something to eat out off her recipes just to "come on down to my house and I'll fix it for ya".
I like how you are talking about the best southern meal! However, you have a few grammar errors. You are typing like you would talk and that is not good. Correct a few things and it will be great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment I will try to take that advice and put it into my post for now on. The only question I have for you is exactly what do you mean on how I talk. Do you mean thought the hole thing or at the bottom.
DeleteI love chicken and mashed potatoes. Your blog makes me hungry. Remember to proof read and use complete sentences.
ReplyDeleteYour first entire paragraph is difficult to read because of the run-ons. Stop your sentences when you have to change subjects: "So thaw the chicken now there are several ways to fry chicken, you can do eggs or milk but my favorite is in buttermilk." Some sentences are just confusing: "something to eat out off her recipes."
ReplyDeleteYour formatting seems like it should read more of a recipe.
The post does make me hungry, but take the advice from the others: REVISE
